None of us were born to just pay bills and die.
Nor were we designed to evolve via motivational seminar.
Bathed in the glow of PowerPoints.
Transformed by handouts.
Moved by the plastic austerity of a conference room.

These environments aren’t where our spirits thrive. They’re the anesthetic that puts them to sleep.

(Along with the numbing sedatives that keep existence comfortable: Worn-out excuses. Defeated attitudes. Habitual procrastination. Eternal to-do lists. Stubborn mental blocks.)

But you should know…
None of this bullshit works in Africa.

Mt. Kilimanjaro, the native guides, a small crew of fellow climbers, two facilitators, one journal. That’s all you get.
 
Because we know the effects of even the best seminars h ave an expiration date.We know binders are nothing but future landfill fodder.
We know it’s nearly impossible to escape the hamster wheel of our routines.
 We know a lot...but the mountain knows you.

Even though you weren’t born in Africa, the farthest reaching tips of your roots were.There’s familiarity in the foreign. With each step, attention wanders toward older, wiser understanding where the part of you that knows what it wants begins to stir.

All people change on Kilimanjaro. Quietly through small, private epiphany or radically from the extreme encounter with the outdoors. By the relief of unburdening themselves with what they leave on the mountain. But mostly through the persistent unfolding of whatever gifts they carry home.
